On a given day, I typically handle about 15-20 individual document submissions, which is a breeze on my Mac Book Pro and my Vista Desktop, which run the Windows version of Office ‘07, but a pain on my work desktop which has Office ‘03 – Japanese version. I finally got one DOCX submission too many and the laptop at home, I decided to get proactive – unfortunately I went about it the wrong way.
I went hunting around on the web for file converters and tested a non-sensitive document. It didn’t work, another one asked for my email address, which I am sure would sentence me to months of spam. Still others wanted money. My disappointment was palpable – did this mean I would have to wait until I got home? Surely not, in my frustration I double clicked the sucker and followed the prompts through to the Microsoft site as best I could; all the time hampered by my poor command of kanji. Browsing the solutions, I found a little file converter package, FileFormatConverters that I thought would be worth a try.
I downloaded the package, installed it, fired it up and what do you know, it worked – perfectly. I personally prefer Office ‘03 to Office ‘07, as I can do most of what I need to do faster in ‘03 and this just makes it that much easier.
