The Ray gun channel changer should not be mistaken for a remote control. All that it can do is change the channel up or down or (presumably) turn your volume up or down. As you do so you will be rewarded with a zapping sound. I see this as a great way for people to torment their respective parents/siblings/children. What could be more annoying than hearing a ray gun go “zap” as your favorite program gets bumped off the screen?
