Sony Unveils Sub-1mm Thin OLED TV at CEATECStumble This

Sony have a new prototype OLED screen that they are showing off. At a thickness of 0.9mm (the TV not the screen), Sony’s prototype is mind bendingly thin, the product of carefully grinding down the glass substrate of the screen. Unfortunately this process also makes the screen extremely brittle, which means this is something that you wouldn’t want to have if you are clumsy or have kids of any age.

The screen itself appears to be the same 0.3mm screen that has been around for some time now. The prototype’s showing at CEATEC also fuels speculation that we may soon see an updated and even thinner XEL-1. [PC World Image]
