Asus 12-inch Bamboo Laptop Gets a PriceStumble This

A while back the world caught its first glimpse of the Asus bamboo laptop, at the time it was a prototype, but it piqued the interest of enough people that Asus went out and made it a somewhat expensive reality. The specs below are from the ASUS news site, and it should be noted that not all of them have been set.

  • Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor T9400/P8600/P8400
  • Mobile Intel® PM45 Express Chipset
  • DDR2 800 MHz SDRAM, 2 x SODIMM socket for expansion up to 4GB SDRAM
  • Intel® WiMAX/WiFi Link 5100
  • 12.1″ WXGA LED-backlit LCD with Color Shine (Glare-type), Crystal Shine (High brightness) and ASUS Splendid Video Intelligence Technology
  • NVIDIA® GeForce® 9300M GS External 256MB VRAM
  • Hybrid HDD with 256MB flash

It all makes for a capable machine, all things considered the $1900 pricetag for a robust system with some eco-friendly credentials is fairly reasonable, but I really would have to try one out in person before I traded in aluminum for bamboo.
