
The picture that you see above you is the very first working steampunk cellphone to be reported. As you can see from the picture, there is a nice mix of polished wood and shiny brass and a couple of gauges that may or may not serve any non-aesthetic function. This is no dressed up cellphone, it doesn’t open up to reveal a hidden screen or keypad; it does not have either of these conveniences. If you want to call someone, you do it via a binary-coded punch card; it doesn’t get more steampunk than that.

The steampunk cellphone is the work of engineer Arthur Schmitt.
