Videos: NES Keyless Entry System, DIY Gaming Room SecurityStumble This

Instructables user Action_owl has developed a novel keyless entry system that makes use of an Arduino controller, NES controller, CD-ROM drive and a few other bits and pieces. To unlock the door, a person needs to enter in the right button combination on the NES controller. If they get it right, the CD-ROM tray flips the lock open. If they hit the wrong combination it issues an annoying sound and takes a mugshot of the person in question.

While I most certainly wouldn’t trust the contents of my home with this thing, it should be more than enough to keep housemates out of your room or kids and spouses out of your gaming den. [Instructables via Ubergizmo]
