Astronaut-designed Zero Gravity Coffee Cup

spacecoffee
Oddly enough, the On-orbit mug is the second design that I have seen for a space coffee cup, the first was by Daniel Pettit, but this one has a special designer touch. You see, coffee, like all other liquids is a little tougher to drink in zero gravity, hence the intricacy of the design which uses surface tension from the narrow bottom and a deep groove to allow the space traveler to enjoy a cup of Joe just as he or she would do on Earth. Kudos to Travis Baldwin for such a sweet design.

While there may not seem to be a market for zero gravity coffee cups right now, fifty years into the future we will probably all be singing Daniel Pettit’s praises. Check out Tuvie for a lot more pictures of the design. [Tuvie via DVICE]
