Sure, this picture could be a fake, but my money is on it being absolutely real. A new Mac Mini is due, and shots of Apple’s bits and pieces are leaked with astounding regularity, so let’s take a look at what we can see back there.
From the bottom row, we have an Ethernet port, firewire, two display ports and five USB ports. There is no HDMI, which is stupid considering that it would otherwise be a really good little media center, but you can always get an adapter. [Apple Insider via Gizmodo, Crave]

Because then they can’t charge 20x as much as a regular power cable for their special adaptor. That’s Apple, screwing you out of your money every time.

Cd drive will probably also be a separate component connected by USB. Apple loves to do stuff like that.

I claim fake. Apple is moving away from Firewire on their “consumer” lines — it is only on the Pro stuff now, why would they include it on a flippin’ Mini? (not that I wouldn’t love to see it, but really?)

They included it on the iMac, desktop stuff has more room for ports, I don’t think they are moving away from Firewire on their consumer lines at all. The trouble is with stuff like the Air is that they have become all about form and not about function. Hence you get no Ethernet port and no Firewire, they take up too much space.
