The Lamborghini branded laptops that Asus has given us in the past have done little to live up to the reputation of the sports car maker, their specs have been mediocre and there has been no wow factor; and then they made the VX5. It looks good, borrowing style from the limited edition Reventon, but Lamborghini is about performance as much as it is about the look and this machine stands out there as well.
The thing that really makes the Asus Lamborghini VX5 really stand out is the 1TB solid state disk that it packs in. Most of the competition don’t come anywhere near that because SSDs are still so damned expensive. On top of that it has a Core 2 Quad, 4GB of RAM and a 1GB NVIDIA GeForce GT 130M graphics card; and something we haven’t seen for almost twenty years, a turbo function (in this case twin-turbo) that bumps up the CPU and GPU performance with a little on-demand overclocking. The optical drive is naturally Blu-ray and sound comes via a pair of Altec Lansing speakers.
Then there are the little touches, keyboard backlighting for low-light conditions, and strategically placed heat vents to keep your hands from getting too hot.
Price: TBA – but I am guessing it is going to be very, very expensive; especially so on account of the 1TB SSD. [Electric Pig via New Launches]
