Messenger Bag Directors Chair Carries Your Seat Not Your Stuff

The Messenger Bag Director’s Chair is an interesting bag-chair mashup. It is a quality chair, with a pair of mesh pockets and a drink holder, and is able to support people of significant heft (up to 250 lbs) thanks to a sturdy but lightweight steel and aluminum frame. Folded up, it is slender 4″ thick and if Hammacher’s claims are to be believed, it can be set up or closed in seconds. That all makes for a rather covetable chair, the only thing I don’t like about it is the price.

Price: $130 [Hammacher via Uncrate]

I own this chair and it is everything and more. I bought it on sale for $89.00 in REI but it is worth it. Extremely compact and unfolding it and folding it is the most fun. It is a Swiss Army Knife chair if you will. Very clever and extremely comfy and practical. There are portable chairs everywhere but none so comfortable nor so cleverly designed.
GCI makes a less expensive model of this chair and sold by LL Bean but I have not seen it.
It is not light and not for backpacking but going to the park or a concert, great. I use them camping.

Considering my messenger bag cost more than this bag chair combo, sure it might be expensive but if its quality, then as always worth is relative.

Good to hear your feedback Robitj, and I do agree with you Badtz – I would rather pay more for quality than end up having to buy quantity.
