In bundling high definition audio with their GH1, Panasonic has joined the line of camera manufacturers are starting to get serious about video.
While the GH1 is a little behind in terms of specs, the price ($1500) makes it a very attractive proposition. Video is a full 1080p at either 24 or 60 frames per second, but the exciting point is the audio, the GH1 adds Dolby Digital to the mix; with a separate CPU so that it doesn’t interfere with the video.
Compared to the higher end, the GH1’s 12.1 mega pixels might seem puny, but I have yet to encounter a situation that would require me to use 12.1, let alone the 20+ of more expensive models. [Trend Hunter via Coolest Gadgets]
