Where is The Clear Cache Button In Firefox 3.5x?Stumble This

firefox-logo
Not only did Firefox 3.5x break a lot of really cool add-ons, they also hid the “clear cache button” behind layers and layers of menus to ensure that its location would escape all but the most astute of power users.

So where is the ubiquitous button?

Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): “Clear Now”

You know what they say, “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it”, well it wasn’t and they did.

Has anyone else found Firefox getting worse with every incarnation since 2.0?

Hum… maybe you’re just trying too hard?

Try Tools > Clear Recent History (or just Ctrl-Shift-Del), and at the window that opens select Everything as the time range, and Cache as what to clear.

Now, I’m not saying Firefox isn’t somewhat worse (mine’s getting so slow I’m just starting to switch to Chrome), but it’s just because of excess of options, not lack thereof.

I’m with you. Firefox is just getting worse, and heavy and slow… I’m about to switch as well.

It’s amazing that such en essential function has been hidden so deep and that one has to install a plugin for it. I agree: Firefox is getting worse in stead of better.

i already switched after the release of mutant 3.0. however opera was even worse and gave me blue screens (honestly don’t know what was wrong there). now i’m going with 3.5 which was obviously tweaked by the Riddler’s adopted son in colaboration with Joker’s Mad Prince.

I’ve just spent the last 10 minutes looking for the clear cache button – I found it in the end same place as you, not where DivinoAG said it was because – ‘clear recent history’ doesn’t actually mean anything (clear the list of the pages I’ve most recently visited? Going back how long? Clear the images as well??)

I mean honestly – anyone should know that:

Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): “Clear Now”

It’s intuitive, almost as though I could read it’s mind – second nature – easy as pie – and why naturally where else would it be?

The only reason I use Firefox is because of the amazing plugins.

IE is easily the fastest as rendering Flash at least double the speed of Firefox (which is second fastest, then Safari, then Chrome)

The slowest and most crap browser of all time is Chrome!

@Sci-Fi Si: had you tried the option I told before, you would see that the non specificness is intended. The dialog that opens gives you the option to choose exactly what you want to clear: everything (using the settings I mentioned) or other more specific ones, like just today’s cache, or just the past hour Browsing History, your choice. WHAT is going to be cleared and HOW LONG BACK, those are all very clearly labeled options on that dialog; even my mother can use that.

To say that clicking through 6 menus/dialogs/pages/buttons to get to that option is clearer, more intuitive than one single menu option (or hotkey for those more keyboard-oriented) is just silly.
