Touchable Holography At Tokyo University’s Shinoda LabsStumble This

Picture 10
The smart brains in the engineering department at Tokyo University have come up with a novel method of applying the sensation of touch to holograms. The touchable holography that the group at the Shinoda Lab has created is a real technological mashup, using Wii sensors for motion sensing and ultrasonic equipment to create the sensation of touch.

It looks expensive and one wonders what real world application it will have, but as with most of these sorts of things, if you build it someone will think of something to do with it.

Oddly enough, they could figure out a way to make touchable holograms but they couldn’t work out how to put sound in their video.
