Here’s a newsflash, Blu-ray looks awesome, really it does, it looks incredible. Don’t get me wrong, it really has to be a new release that was shot for high definition, or the results will be underwhelming, but the right title will look spectacular on a good TV, even from the cheapest player on the market.
Which brings me to my question. Why would anyone want to spend $125,000 on a Goldmund Eidos Reference Blu-Ray player, when it will likely offer no noticeable improvements over anything that costs about $124,000 less? Sure, they are only producing 50 of the things, but if you have that much to blow on a Blu-ray, why not donate it to charity – or better yet, buy me a house?
