A pill bottle from in the works from Cambridge, Mass. startup Vitality sends an SMS to remind its owner to take his/her medication. It can also play jingles, or place automated phone calls and has a light that flashes on and off to make extra sure that you remember.
If that sounds annoying, consider the benefits of better medication adherence. It could work wonders for people with a whole range of conditions.
If the bottle isn’t opened at the appointed time, the cap and night light start blinking to remind the owner to take the medication. If that doesn’t serve as enough of a hint, they start playing jingles as well. If the bottle stays unopened, the night light will send a message to Vitality’s system, which can then place an automated phone call or send a text message with a reminder.
No prices as of yet, but it is an interesting system. [State] –Thanks Daiki
