Modder Yergacheffe has done something quite unusual, with an antique Apple IIe, a PC and a Samsung monitor. The three units have been cobbled together to form an unholy technological abomination that is just plain cool.
The PC transfers data to the Apple IIe via the PC’s USB port, from there some custom written 6502-assembler code gets the tweets displayed on the IIe’s monitor. On its own, that would be an accomplishment, but Yergacheffe went a few steps further. His software turns Twitter avatars into giant 8-bit images and the tweets can be saved to a 5.25-inch floppy – now that is awesome.
