Big companies have their telepresence, but you know what? It is for suckers – robot presence is so much more awesome. Richard Garriot, AKA Lord British, the guy who brought us the Ultima franchise, uses a robot to stay on top of things in his Austin-based Portalarium development studio, when he is at his wife’s place in New York.

The Anybots, inc. machine uses a webcam, speakers and a laptop to project his presence across the country in a manner which seems vaguely creepy.

He told the Huffington Post:

When I’m up north, I log in in the morning and can meander over to anyone’s desk and really be a part of the casual conversations that are so essential to our work. Sometimes I feel like a spy, but fundamentally it feels like I am really there.
