Canon Provides a Quick Cheap Fix for the 5D Mk IIIs Light Leak

In case you hadn’t heard, Canon has been in the news for the wrong reasons recently thanks to a “light leak” issue – in which light was leaking from and/or through the camera’s LCD panel and affecting exposure readings, to the point that it was able to throw off exposure settings by 1/3 of a stop. Canon has now solved the problem — and they did it without having to turn a bunch of light-leaking LCD screens into landfill. The solution was simply a strip of black tape that sits under the LCD screen – simple and effective.

Congratulations to the folks at LensRentals, who took apart a new 5D Mark III to find out what was going on. [Source]
