Remember that old trick in the 80′s where you could put your tongue on the positive side of a battery to see if it still had juice?  No?  Well, I’m from North Carolina so maybe that’s a southern thing.  No one I know ever suffered any oral injuries from said trick, but I have to imagine that it was a really bad idea.  You know, with the battery acid and all.  Now there’s the aptly named Digital Battery Checker: a device with a simple name, that performs a very simple yet very helpful function- to see if the battery you found in the back of your junk drawer will still power your X-box controller.  But it’s not just double and triple A’s that this thing can handle, the DBC is compatible with AAA, AA, C, D, and even 1.5V coin cells for your……I don’t know….calculator?  The compact device “uses a color-coded liquid crystal display to accurately display your battery’s status as “good,” “weak,” or “poor,”"  saving you the hassle of gambling with a dead battery, and/or the $15.99 you would have spent on a 2-pack of AAA’s when you had a perfectly good one behind the back right leg of your bed.  The gadget does, however, require a single  AAA battery, but the first one is on the house.  Pick it up here for  $11.49.
