I’m not sure who decided that in the future nobody will ever want to walk again, but with the slew of odd transportation devices I’ve stumbled upon lately, I’m starting to feel like “using your legs” will soon be a thing of the past. Enter the Honda UNI-CUB personal mobility device: a battery-powered wheely stool thing that goes just under 4 mph, can travel approximately 4 miles, and will be marketed primarily for indoor use rather than outdoor. Honda says the vehicle is designed for “Harmony with people.” which I’m not sure if that is real, or just a really poor Japanese to English translation. Furthermore the UNI-CUB (or as I call it: the Single Baby Bear) is said to “offer the same freedom of movement in all directions that a person enjoys while walking.” but with out any annoying calorie burning. Testing for the thingamajig starts in June, so keep your chubby little fingers crossed that the UNI-CUB hits the market soon to relieve you of having to walk from the couch to the fridge. Check out all the specs and such here.
