Redditors Team up to Solve a Puzzle [I Smell a Rat]

The story goes something like this: a Redditor, delverofsecrets, claimed that while on a train in NYC he bumped into a man wearing raggedy clothes who handed him a $50 and an encrypted message (pictured above).

Delverofsecrets posted the puzzle on Reddit and within a few hours someone figured out that it had been encoded using bifid cypher and the puzzle was solved.

There’s plenty more money to make figure this out and prepare to meet july 19 fifty sixth and sixth hot dog stand outside rue57 cafe ask for mister input.

Some time later, Delverofsecrets claims that the original “homeless-looking guy” sent him an encoded private message on Reddit, he allegedly proved his identity by recalling details of their encounter.

The message read as follows:

YOU HAVE MANAGED TO FIND THE MESSAGE WITH THE HELP OF FRIENDS. YOU CHANGED THE RULES NOW SO WILL I. JULY TWELVE FOUR PM. FIND THE BLUE JAY AT SIX AND A HALF AND FIFTY SIXTH AND TELL HIM YOU ARE THE LAST.

There are some pretty good theories as to what is actually going down – more than likely this is just some viral marketing campaign. My guess is that either delverofsecrets, or someone that knows him, is involved. Either way it seems fun for all involved so what’s the harm? [Source]
