Thousands of PC to be cut-off from the Internet by the FBI next Monday

Thousands of PCs across the world will be temporarily banned from the Internet come this Monday as the FBI’s latest effort to counter Internet data theft will take place. For several months now, the FBI has been warning people that their PCs might be affected by a DNS changing malware which made them vulnerable to data theft, allowing a third party to steal or log any data stream coming from, or going to, said PCs.

Well now, as of next Monday, the infected PC will no longer be able to access the Internet, which will make it very difficult for anyone trying to remove the malware from their PCs to actually achieve it.

In the mean time, users can go to this website in order to check if their PCs are infected. My machine, which runs Ubuntu 12.04 is clean. Is yours?

Banned PCs will be able to access the Internet once again when the malware is removed.
