How to Make a Macro Lens For Your iPhone Using a Cheap Laser Pointer

If you are looking for a good way to take macro shots with your iPhone on the cheap, you could try photographer Zaheer Mohiuddin’s trick: use the lens from a cheap laser pointer. The lens can simply be taped directly over the top of the iPhone’s camera lens – this leaves a very shallow depth-of-field. According to PetaPixel, your iPhone will need to be less than an inch from your subject.

At any rate, laser pointers are cheap, or free (if you have an old one lying around waiting to be McGyvered into something better) – so what have you got to lose?
