Popinator May Usher in a New Age of Handsfree Popcorn Consumption

The Popinator is a project that has been put together by the Indiana Popcorn Company. When you say the word “pop”, It uses a binaural microphone to pinpoint the location of your mouth and launches a piece of popcorn in its general direction. The individual aerodynamic aspects of pieces of popcorn tend to affect their flight, so there is still some maneuvering involved – but as you can see from the video it does a very good job of getting things in the general vicinity.

The Popinator is not in production yet, but the Indiana Popcorn Company is considering making it available – there is no word as of yet as to what it might cost.
