eCool Beer Cooler Chills Your Beer Underground

The eCool Beer Cooler is the work of a group of inventors on a northern island in Denmark. All a person needs is a garden drill, or shovel and muscles and the $349 asking price and he or she can have cool beer all year round sans electricity.

If it sounds too good to be true it is because it is… and isn’t. The eCool stores the beer at a depth of around a meter (for the bottommost beers). In cooler climes that may well be enough to put a pleasant chill on them – but sadly, where I am from it is only enough to bring things down to the low 20’s (C not F). Ergo this is something that is more for Canada and Scandinavia than Australia and central Japan.

Those of you that live in hotter climates will, unfortunately, have to keep finding space in their fridges… or just do what I do and squeeze them into the deep freeze. In your author’s experience, a little over one hour is all they need to become almost painfully cold.

Price: $349-369 [via Oh Gizmo]
