NANA Saver Lets Your Banana Live to Be Eaten Again

Nana Saver Banana SaverIf you are the type of person that lacks the constitution to consume a banana in its entirety and you also happen to hate wasting food, then the NANA saver Banana Holder is most definitely for you. It is a plastic clip that can be attached to the uneaten part of the banana to keep it from coming into contact with air; allowing it to live to be eaten another day.

I would say you could get an extra day or two of banana action happening with this thing, but don’t quote me on that because I really don’t know.

USB 4 Port Data Switch Shares a Device With Multiple Machines

4 Port USB Switch
The USB 4 Port Data Switch is probably the easiest way to “network” your devices. Plug your device and computers into the switch and you will be able to change which machine has access to it at the push of a button.

Note that if you go to the trouble of learning how to configure a home network then you will get the same functionality without switching, but this is cool for the countless people that don’t know what to do and don’t have the time to figure it out and its cheap..

Relive a Nostalgic Past With a Dialler for Your iPhone

iDialer

The iDial is an application that might make a few of the older geeks out there get a little nostalgic, dial phone interface for your iPhone. Remember the days back before cell phones and even push button phones; when there was no speed dial and it took a while to dial out a person’s number. You could speed up the process by forcing the dial back faster than it was supposed to go, but that was about it.

They were inconvenient times, to be sure, but if you feel the burning desire to relive the past then retro bliss is only a download away. [SOSiphone via Iphoneskinning / Gearfuse / TFTS]

Asus To Extend Instant-On Linux to the Whole Line Up

Splashtop LinuxAsus has decided to make the Splashtop instant-on Linux feature a part of its entire motherboard line up. The Asus installation makes use of a dedicated memory chipset linked to the BIOS and takes about a second to boot.

There are ton of advantages to having a lean Linux installation with virtually no boot time; especially when you consider how long it takes to boot Vista at the best of times. If you only need to turn on your computer to make a Skype call or check your email, it is possible. A second OS installed in this way also makes things easy when you need to troubleshoot Windows problems. [Tweak Town]

Thin Film Technology Breakthrough to Cut the Cost of Solar Power

Solar Panels
For a long time it has seemed that affordable solar panels were not going to happen in the foreseeable future; however, a breakthrough from the HelioVolt Corporation has raised the possibility that we just might. HelioVolt has managed to produce thin film solar panels with a 12.2% conversion rate.

12.2% seems highly unremarkable, especially when compared to Sanyo’s recent 22% effort; however it is worth remembering that this is thin-film solar and that the panels are being printed with a proprietary FASST reactive transfer printing process that produces solar cells 10 to 100 times faster than their competition. The potential is that this could lead to solar power at less than $1 per watt, the magical number where solar really starts to compete with fossil fuel power. [HelioVolt via Gizmag]
