If you want to give a major attention seeker a little attention or are just looking for a little light entertainment, you could head over to @GitEmSteveDave on Twitter and see people’s responses to him driving with a Starbucks cup mounted on the roof of his car by way of a magnet. Or, if like me you do not care what somebody you have never met (and would probably not get along with if you did meet) has stuck to their roof then you could avoid the page like the plague; either way.

Boing Boing was kind enough to post a sample of the fellow’s tweetings: “13 honks, 3 points, 2 mimes, 3 StopLightTells, 1 flash, 1 wave, 2 laughs, 5 AlongSideRiders, 4 2xTakes, & 1 cute girl took my picture.”

GitEmSteveDave was kind enough to teach others how to make a magnetic rooftop coffee cup, because such a hobby likely only appeals to people who don’t know how to stick a magnet in the bottom of a paper coffee cup; trust me it is not rocket science.

Unless you are living under a rock, you have probably already heard that YouTube has announced that they will be supporting 1080p in the not too distant future.

Furthermore, they’ve also announced that they are working on re-encoding recently uploaded 1080p videos, so there will be even more high-definition content around choking up the pipes of the Interwebs. [TFTS]

Chrome For OSX To Goes Real Beta In December

Word on the street from sources to various to name is that that Google’s Chrome browser will make it’s official debut on OSX early next month. It has been available for some time for developers and interested parties, December’s release is the first aimed at mainstream users.

If you’ve not used Chrome, I highly recommend trying it, it is by far the simplest of the major browsers and it is lightning quick, which should equate to less spinning beach-ball moments.

Pigeon Transfers Data Faster Than South Africa’s Leading ISP

The next time you complain about slow Internet, spare a thought for the people of South Africa who have to contend with Telkom. The situation is so bad that one information technology company decided to make a point.

Unlimited IT pitted an 11-month-old pigeon against the country’s leading ISP in a race to transfer data from Pietermaritzburg to Durban. The distance was approximately 50 miles; the results, surprising.

The pigeon transfer took a total of two hours, six minutes and 57 seconds (including the flight time of one hour and eight minutes, and the time it took to transfer data to and from the card). At the time that the pigeon transfer had finished, only 4% of the Telkom download was completed.

When it comes to correspondence, email has totally saved my ass. It is not that I hate writing, I enjoy it; my problem is that I hate addressing envelopes.
