If you absolutely must stay connected, even underwater, then it can be done with the Alpha UWCP. A 40m cable connects a full face mask with an integrated microphone and speaker to a buoy with an electronic interface, which in turn can be used to connect to a cell phone via Bluetooth.

All it takes is a 9v battery and a Bluetooth equipped cell phone.

While this definitely has a place in emergency situations, I feel for the hapless diver that gets stuck with the workaholic dive buddy that absolutely must stay connected at all times. Some places should be sacred, and underwater is one of them.

The Japan Texture series of cases for the iPhone have me strangely enticed and repelled at the same time. They look awesome and are historically accurate, but I fail to see why anyone would want to buy a case that costs more than the actual phone. Plus it is covered in lacquer and gold dust, which would last about ten minutes in my pocket.

The series consists of five case designs and depict art of the Sengoku period and they come with a storage box in case you feel that it needs protecting. Apparently each of the handmade cases takes about three weeks to make.

The price is the kicker, $100 for either aluminum or brass is a lot to spend on a case when they practically give iPhones away these days, and titanium is even more expensive, it will cost you $300.

A few photos of the forthcoming Sony Ericsson Xperia X2 have been leaked and while it isn’t exactly a pretty phone, it sure looks to be a capable one.

From what we can see from the picture, it is running Winmo 6.5, which is most definitely preferable to the SE’s vile proprietary OS. Other than that, it looks like nice and shiny but a little bit too square. Seriously, you could poke an eye out with those corners.

What is a selling point is that keyboard. While I have not laid hands upon one, the picture gives a real sense of a quality low-profile keyboard, which makes an enormous difference when banging out a quick email. Give me actual keys over a touchscreen any day.
