Feeling Exposed? Thousands of Hotmail Accounts Phished, Passwords Revealed

Microsoft has revealed that they blocked access to several thousand Hotmail accounts after hackers posted their password and access information online.

Microsoft made the following comments regarding the situation:

We are aware that some Windows Live Hotmail customers’ credentials were acquired illegally by a phishing scheme and exposed on a website.

We have taken measures to block access to all of the accounts that were exposed and have resources in place to help those users reclaim their accounts.

Microsoft added that their security was not breached and that the breach was Most of the affected accounts were in Europe

They added that the phishing attack was “not a breach of internal Microsoft data.”

The login information could have been obtained via spyware or bogus login pages. Microsoft recommend that users change their passwords at least every 90 days. [Yahoo]

The system detects the CCDs in digital cameras and fires off infrared lasers to render paparazzi camera rigs useless; film cameras should be fine though. Aside from the photo-shield, Abramovic has included defenses from more serious threats. The Eclipse is armor plated, sports bullet-proof windows and has a military-spec missile defense system. Guy Makes Working Police Handcuff Key on 3D Printer

Handcuff fanatic Ray managed to produce a working Dutch police handcuff key using a 3D printer, and which was verified with a photograph of a police officer’s behind.

Ray also took the trouble of putting the file online for anyone who wants it, but beware, in some countries it is a felony to own a handcuff key. Check your local laws before even considering this. [BB]
