Here is an incredibly cool little DIY project if anyone is interested. Giovanni Militano has built these incredibly sexy speakers himself for a cost of about $400. The bookshelf sized speakers sport a pair of Fostex FX120 Full-Range Drivers. Giovanni does an excellent job of outlining the build process and I think it is something that a moderately skilled do-it-yourselfer could manage.
The DIY Audio Projects page has quite a few interesting projects. If you have the time, I highly recommend checking it out.

Here is something cool that is totally underpowered for my book collection. The hidden bookshelf from Think Geek will hold up to ten books and 20lbs of force on your wall as if by magic. The books should be bigger than the shelf in order to achieve the desired effect, but it is pretty cool. Don’t forget to read the instructions before setting this up. Most importantly, it is “recommended that you screw directly into a stud.”
If you don’t like it, it won’t exactly bust the bank at $13.00

As you can see, the Bookman is a man-shaped bookshelf that is as much a sculpture as it is a functional piece of furniture. The Bookman comes in three different versions, and each one can hold around 100 books.
If you ask me, this sort of bookshelf would be best utilized in a children’s room - although I have my doubts as to whether or not it will lead to an increased interest in reading. However, they may glance at it from time to time on their way to watch television or to play video games - which is better than nothing.

As the name suggests, the Library Bathtub Armchair by designer Malin Lundmark is really comprised of three pieces of furniture. It’s a bathtub, bookshelf, and armchair all-in-one.
Something like this has the potential to be extremely comfortable, but by the looks of things Malin was putting style ahead of functionality. From these images it appears as if the tub itself is made from wood and the chair backing from some sort of metal - not the sort of materials you would expect to find in a bathtub.

When turned off, the matte black spine of the Light Reading Lamp will help it to blend in with your other books. Turn it on and it will reveal its title and bathe your shelf in a cool white light.
If you’re wondering, the book is illuminated by a small low temperature fluorescent bulb, so you don’t have to worry about your real books bursting into flames. That means it should be easy on the power bill as well.
