The rumor mill won’t stop spinning in relation to the next round of first person shooters. Word on the street is that Medal of Honor: Operation Anaconda will be set in Afghanistan. Stranger things have happened and considering that the U.S. Military operation in Afghanistan ran by the same name.
According to Kotaku, we can also expect:
MOH:OA is said by the (machine translated) survey to feature front line combat, sniper duties and “drone attack” command gameplay, as well as 60 customizable weapons.
Also in FPS game rumors is the possibility that Call of Duty 5 will feature space marines; I am intrigued. [Jeuxvideo via Joystiq, Kotaku]

While it has been a while since I have enjoyed a Call of Duty 4 session, I am somewhat excited by the news that we will see a new release from Activision in ‘09. Better yet is the rumor that Infinity Ward will once again be at the helm for the development. Call of Duty 4 was certainly the most polished FPS that I have experienced and as long as they make sure our profiles don’t go evaporating into the ether again this time, I will be playing. [Kotaku]
Lucas Arts has announced that although they are providing Force Unleashed for new consoles and semi-antiques alike, they will not be making a PC version of their soon to be popular game.
Lucas Arts states its reasons for the decision:
If we made the game for high-end PCs, someone with a low-end PC would have a watered down experience, they would have to turn all the settings down and it wouldn’t be the same game. On the other hand if we made that game for as many people as possible then it’s not taking advantage of what those $4,000 systems can do.
I own exactly zero guns, I would not exactly call myself an anti-gun person, I have never felt the need. Still, if shooting stuff is your thing, you will be well aware that cleaning and maintaining your guns can take a lot of time and effort. If you have enough weapons to outfit a small army, I can imagine that it would be a real chore. Luckily, a solution comes in the form of the F636HT Heavy Duty Long Gun & Handgun System. The F636HT will allow you to automatically clean up to 10 handguns or 4 long guns.
The price my make some people gasp, it is $7100 from SonicsOnline
One of the ways that I like to unwind after a hard day at the grindstone is with a short Call of Duty 4 session each day. I try to limit my time, but spend a few hours at war on Sunday. In the few weeks I have owned the game, I managed to work my way up to within 300 experience points of Brigadier General. Not bad for about twenty-five hours of play. Then the inexplicable happened, my profile vanished. All of the challenges, experience, rank, gone like they had never existed. It was like someone had flipped a reset switch on my game.
I’ve scoured the boards and found little more than rumors. Asking people in game produced predictably mature responses, which I shall not repeat lest I offend those with more delicate sensibilities than my own. There were a couple of people that new someone that lost their COD4 profile, well I am telling you this phenomenon is real and it sucks. I don’t know what caused it, I didn’t have a backup and I have to say, I feel much more inclined to turn my attention to a different game. I love COD4, but the thought of working my way up through the ranks again is nothing short of nauseating. Fix it Activision.
