Abramovic Yacht Features High-tech Anti-paparazzi Defense

abrameclipse
Amongst the awesome technology on Russian tycoon Roman Abramovic’s 557-ft Eclipse is an anti-photo shield that is designed to thwart attempts to capture his billion dollar baby on CCD.

The system detects the CCDs in digital cameras and fires off infrared lasers to render paparazzi camera rigs useless; film cameras should be fine though. Aside from the photo-shield, Abramovic has included defenses from more serious threats. The Eclipse is armor plated, sports bullet-proof windows and has a military-spec missile defense system. Everglide DKTBoard Looks Sweet, is Well Priced

Everglide DKTBoard

I have a love for gaming keyboards that is only eclipsed by my love for gaming mice.  The Everglide DKTBoard is a well-designed piece of gaming technology that falls ever so slightly short of brilliance. Don’t get me wrong, I am a fan of the look; I love that brushed aluminum chassis.  It is back-lit to which there is absolutely no downside and it is designed for typing fast.  What doesn’t sell me is the compact, laptopesque design.  Spread it out a little more, give my hands a little bit more room to move and I might by something like this.

Still, it is powered by Razer and it is very nicely priced, so it might be good for some people.

Price: $70 from Everglide

Expensive Swiss Army Knives with the Works

The Ludicrously Large Wenger Evo Giant

Swiss Army Knives used to have a certain geeky goodness and in a way they still do. In recent years, however, we have seen them dramatically eclipsed by other more capable multi-tools. There are still a few good ones out there though. Swiss Army Knife makers Wenger and Victorinox have both created some over-the-top anniversary models. Wenger’s Evo Giant is by far the most ludicrous. It features 85 tools which are said to be able to perform 110 functions. The Wenger model came to my attention thanks to Think Geek.

The Victorinox Swiss Champ is a little more sensibly sized and priced, though it only has 80 functions. We are guessing that there are a few on the Wenger that you can probably do without, especially since it is so big that you would never actually be able to use it. The Victorinox model is also a little more reasonably priced.

Think Geek is selling the Wenger model for a touch under $1,000. I am calling shenanigans as I see that the Wenger Evo Giant ships from Switzerland for $792.00 If you opt for priority shipping (4-10 days), it is free. The Victorinox Swiss Champ will hit you for a total of $291.20, also with free priority shipping. I have no idea why Think Geek tried to overcharge by so much, the links will take you to the much more reasonably priced Swiss Knife Shop.

Eclipse II LED Backlit Keyboard

Eclipse II LED Backlit Keyboard

A keyboard should work good in all aspects and look good too, but while it is kind of hard to find those 2 characteristics in most keyboards, the search might be over because the Eclipse II Keyboard has just arrived at ThinkGeek.

The disco-look-alike keyboard uses different LED lights to create a cool effect, you can pick from blue, red or purple as the glowing color to be emitted. As you can see on the image, the lights that come from the inside of the keyboard can illuminate most keys so there are no worries about typing with the room lights off. Besides the normal keys there are also media ones to control the volume and track options (play, pause, forward, etc).

It is obvious that there are better looking keyboards in terms of outside design, but none can create the colorful effect like this one.

Price: $60
