Honda is ramping up its gas-electric hybrid production in a big way and it looks as though their crowning achievement next year will be the release of a new, affordable hybrid-only model as early as next year. The new model will offer next generation hybrid technology which is lighter than the previous generation and can help to further reduce fuel costs.

Honda’s aim is to bring hybrid technology to vehicle models with an approximate $2000 increase in price. At the moment, the price of a hybrid over a comparable gasoline model can differ by as much as $5000. The $2000 or rather 200,000 Yen mark is a crucial part of their business plan.

Honda has a few hybrid models in their stable already. Until now, however, they have always offered the choice of gasoline or hybrid. While it will take a lot for Honda to close the gap in hybrid sales with Toyota, a new model is definitely a step in the right direction. [Associated Press]

This Honda F1 racing team inspired beauty from Seiko is a little over-sporty for a business meeting perhaps, but is suitable for the office. It looks classy and could be a daily watch were it not for the red on the band, but the red is what sets it apart from a lot of similar sports watches. It uses non reflective sapphire crystal and is water resistant to 100m.

What I don’t like about the watch is that it’s Honda F1 Merch. Forget about saying I’m number one, Honda is number eight (out of eleven) on the world rankings, with a laughable six points. I won’t buy a Ferrari watch on principal as they put their stamp on a Segway, but still, they are sitting six points away from last place and that is just embarrassing. At least the Honda F1 Racing logo is as inconspicuous as the team’s presence on the podium.
