Odyssey Super-rugged Laptop Case Will Make Security Goons Wonder What You’re Planning

odd-1
The Odyssey, a super-rugged laptop case that is watertight, dust- and impact-resistant and even features a pressure release valve, sounds a good idea. The foam liner is pluckable so that it can be shaped to hold any gadget or gizmo that warrants the hefty cost of the bag; making the heft of the bag itself, somehow appropriate. With a dry-weight of 11-lbs, the retractable handle and wheels are necessary inclusions on the Odyssey.

The only trouble that one is likely to encounter from the bag is from overzealous X-ray scanners who think it looks suspicious, and trust me, they get suspicious over a hell of a lot less; the price you pay for laptop safety.

Laptop Case Against Crime, Makes Your Laptop A Less Appealing Target

laptopcaseagainstcrime
If you live in a high-crime area then you probably do little things to make your valuables less appealing targets to thieves. The Laptop Case Against Crime does a pretty good job of it, it disguises your laptop as a newspaper and no one reads those, least of all thieves.

Mitemite’s case is made of plastic fabric, measures 35cm x 28cm x 5cm and features a ziplock fastener to keep it sealed against the elements. It also sports a removable carry chain, which you will probably want to remove as it would pretty much kill the whole newspaper illusion.

Price: $86 (comes in various newspaper flavors) [Red Ferret]

Asus Lamborghini VX5 laptop Finally a Laptop to Befit the Badge

asusThe Lamborghini branded laptops that Asus has given us in the past have done little to live up to the reputation of the sports car maker, their specs have been mediocre and there has been no wow factor; and then they made the VX5. It looks good, borrowing style from the limited edition Reventon, but Lamborghini is about performance as much as it is about the look and this machine stands out there as well. (more…)

Twelve Buildable DIY Projects That Don’t Suck

dremel500
If you haven’t done an awesome DIY project since you can remember then today is your lucky day, we have twelve ideas lined up here that given enough time and energy, pretty much anyone can put together. Don’t get me wrong, there are some tough projects here, but stepping out of your comfort zone is the best way to acquire new skills, and once you’ve got them (as long as you maintain them), they are with you for life.

To make life easier, we have included a difficulty scale: 1- a very simple project with almost no skill required, it is just a matter of screwing a few parts together; 2 – a simple project with some specialized knowledge or skills required; 3 – a moderately difficult project that may need several skills and/or basic soldering to complete; 4 – a difficult project that requires a range of skills and may demand some intricate soldering; 5 – an extremely difficult project that requires detailed knowledge and a range of skills.

Note: even the most difficult projects that we have selected are buildable, but will likely require a good deal of research. These projects are difficult, not necessarily due to the building involved, but because there is likely to be a certain amount of improvisation necessary to get the job done. For this reason, people are going to have to know or be prepared to learn the why not just the how of the design process. As long as it doesn’t involve doing anything particularly dangerous, we thoroughly recommend biting off more than you can chew. It is the best way to learn!
