As a reformed smoker, I don’t have much use for a lighter, but that does not mean that I cannot appreciate a fine Zippo. Available in Japan are these numbered, limited edition Transformers Zippo lighters. They come in two colors (black and silver) and are limited to a run of three hundred on each. Unfortunately I cannot get any more details on this. The last run of limited edition Transformers Zippos was through Toys R’ Us Japan of all places. We hope to hear more about this soon.

I am not much of a smoker, though I do enjoy a fine cigar and have enjoyed pipe tobacco in the past. Zippo lighters were always something of a puzzle to me; they are beautiful to look at; yet horribly inefficient. The lighter fluid that you load Zippo lighters with stinks. Worse than that, it evaporates; try using a Zippo that has been sitting in a desk drawer for a few months, you won’t have much joy.

The Zippo Blu range is a full range of blue flame lighters. They have remained quite true to form by incorporating the flint system and keeping the shape rather Zippoesque. Some purists might take offense to butane in a Zippo, but I think it is high time.

The latest entry in the ever expanding world of unusual timepieces comes to us via this quirky little Sardine Can Clock. I’m not sure what kind of decor would go well with something like this, but it is bound to strike up a conversation no matter where you put it.

Besides, if you own cats ( and something tells me that people interested in this clock probably do ) it’s worth picking up just to watch them flip out at the site of the sardine pendulum swinging back and forth as time ticks by.
