Diaper Monitor System Runs on Pee

diaper_sensor
Researchers at Japan’s Ritsumeikan University have developed a pee-powered diaper monitoring system that will allow anyone who cares for small children or the elderly to know when they are due for a change.

A sensor is placed in the diaper; and a chemical reaction that occurs when the sensor comes into contact with urine is used to create the electricity that is needed to notify parents or staff – as long as they are within 3m of the soiled diaper.

I definitely think that this has more application in medical/daycare scenarios as most parents will not want to know the moment mini-them fills their pants. It will just make them feel guilty for waiting as long as they do.

Chrome For OSX To Goes Real Beta In December

google_chrome1
Word on the street from sources to various to name is that that Google’s Chrome browser will make it’s official debut on OSX early next month. It has been available for some time for developers and interested parties, December’s release is the first aimed at mainstream users.

If you’ve not used Chrome, I highly recommend trying it, it is by far the simplest of the major browsers and it is lightning quick, which should equate to less spinning beach-ball moments.

Asus USB 3.0, SATA 6.0 Via PCI-E a Cheaper Way To Raise Bar

usb30
Asus has brought a happy compromise to the table for the people that want to have USB 3.0 and SATA 6.0 but don’t want to get a whole new motherboard for the privilege. It comes in the form of the U3S6, a PCI-E card that features a pair each of USB 3.0 and SATA 6.0 ports.

At the moment there aren’t a lot of USB 3.0 devices on the market, but give it time; contrary to what a lot of commentators believe, we will start seeing the first trickle of devices sooner rather than later. The key technologies that are going to push USB 3.0 are display over USB and our increasing use of flash memory.

Video: Wii TV Smash On Live Television

Wii related mishaps are nothing new; they are so frequent that Nintendo decided to include a wrist strap, but that could not stop accidents like this one.

It is not too often, however, that one has the pleasure of witnessing a live Wii accident on television.

They should have bundled some TV armor with their overpriced Wii. [Kotaku]

NES Coffee Table Looking Sweet and Up For Grabs

Nestable
If you want to get your hands on what is arguably the coolest coffee table ever, head on over to the bay and make your bid. This one-of-a-kind NES coffee table measures 97cm x 43cm x 27cm and has a 10mm custom-cut glass top.

Unfortunately, the auction is UK only, but if you have the means to pay for shipping and compensate the seller for the extra trouble, you might be able to get him/her to reconsider. At the moment it is sitting on £300.00 with 11 bids, but there are five days remaining and for something like this I would expect the price to rise. [New Launches]
