If the names Peter Sunde, Fredrik Neij, Gottfrid Svartholm are not familiar to you, it probably means that you do actually spend a little time away from your computer screen each day. They are the founders of The Pirate Bay and they are resurrecting a ghost from the Bittorrent past. They have plans to bring back Suprnova, which in its day was the world’s largest torrent site. Legal action succeeded in shutting down Suprnova in 2004.
Sunde, Neij and Svartholm are becoming quite accustomed to being under intense legal pressure. They have been threatened by the MPAA, Warner Bros, Microsoft, Sega and Dreamworks just to name a few. They have even been threatened by representatives of Enya.
Suprnova will be an uncensored torrent index and will be something of a jumping off point for new torrent users. It is also a slap to the face of groups like the MPAA, who have managed to close down a number of large and influential torrent sites in the past. The countdown to a new Suprnova.org will be coming soon. They are planning to launch with over one million torrents.
In a seedy shop in the wrong part of town, I happened upon an unusual discovery, Pirates of the Caribbean electronic products. There was a Pirates of the Caribbean TV/DVD combo and a Pirates of the Caribbean DVD player. They were made by a company that I had not come across before, Runa. I felt that this must be some sort of unlicensed import, not so. Such things would not be out of place in that particular shop. I soon discovered that I was mistaken and that the apparently poor quality electronics were indeed licensed by Disney.
Of the TV/DVD Combo, Disney says:
Our 20” TV features digital tuner (ATSC), 181 channel memory, closed captioning, V-chip, on-screen display and 120-minute sleep timer. The DVD player supports CDR, CDRW, DVD+/RW playback, Picture CD. Relying on TV and their timetables for watching your favorite show is not a good option, therefore I present you a website that has been on my top-ten-used-list on the past couple of days, PeekVid.
Basically… it displays a lot of the latest TV shows, movies and cartoons so you can watch them online, for free. Of course the image quality isn’t the same as a normal TV, but it is still worth the time. For example, if your favorite comic cartoon is Family Guy (like me) you can go to this page and watch some of the 32 videos available. I recommend the episode 6 from season 1, entitled The Son Also Draws.
In each Peekvid category – TV Shows, Movies, Cartoons, Anime, Asian Drama
& Movies – there are plenty of videos you can choose from. The number of movies (which are divided in small parts) must be over 50 and there are some rare but cool ones, like Pirates of Silicon Valley.
