Signature 4 Person Infrared Sauna is Still a Sauna

Signature 4 Person Sauna

I fail to see the attraction to saunas, maybe this is because I hate to sweat. When someone walks into a hot room or into a hot car they say, “It’s like a sauna in here.” This is because they liken the experience to being in a sauna which is uncomfortable. If I were to have a sauna in my own home, I would have to weigh the possible health benefits against the extreme discomfort of sitting in a boiling hot stink pit and probably move in favor of keeping myself seated in front of the computer with a tall frosty one in one hand and my Razer Lachesis in the other.

The Signature 4 Person Infrared Sauna has a few advantages over regular saunas. There are no hot rocks here, it uses solocarbon heating panels and an infrared thermal system to get the temperature up. The company alleges that this will wipe 6-7 times the amount of toxins out of your body as a regular sauna would.

The Canadian cedar interior has a cozy, log cabin-esque look about it. Judging from the picture, it looks small and I am guessing that a the CD Player and radio ought to keep you entertained while you steam. To date, my record in a sauna is something like twelve minutes, so I am guessing I would have to choose my music carefully.

Outdoor Barrel Sauna Looks Toasty, is Affordable

Wood Barrel Sauna

I am not a sauna man. I find them detestably hot, but if I did like saunas, one of these would be really cool. It is handcrafted from either redwood or western red cedar. “Standard features include interior lighting, temperature gauge, two wall air vents, and TYLO or Amerec heater, rocks and controls.” It is designed to be set up outdoors and is suitable for a range of installation options, be they house, apartment or commercial.

They are priced to move by Callaway Woodworks between $4,500 and $6,670 which is not that bad considering it is your very own sauna. For me, sitting in an extremely hot room, sweating to death is not my idea of fun.

Infrared Sauna, 1000 Calories Burned In 30 Minutes

infared sauna.jpg

The Healthmate saunas uses infrared sauna technology to heat the body directly without having to heat the air as in traditional steam saunas. The company makes some interesting claims, such as, the world’s best-selling infrared sauna, used by NASA and the U.S. Airforce and the grand daddy of them all: their sauna can burn up to 1000 calories in 30 minutes. Interesting.

Healthmate is quick to point out that infrared heat has nothing to do with ultraviolet or atomic radiation, which would provide the opposite of Healthmate saunas’ claimed health benefits, including detoxification, weight loss and holistic well being. All models are fitted with a Panasonic CD/tuner.

Price:$3500 for a single person unit, to $8250 for a five-person unit
