This DIY coffee table takes its inspiration from a global graffiti trend in as much as it does from the game. The table makes use of handmade Mexican Talavera tiles to give the pixellated space invaders a less-precise, handmade touch.

According to Sean Ragan, who created the table:

These (handmade Mexican Talavera) tiles, like most handmade artifacts, are imprecise and show significant natural lumpiness and variation. The depiction of the precise, orderly, pixellated image of the space invader sprite would be boring if executed in precisely manufactured injection-molded bathroom tiles from the big orange store. The slightly uneven tile heights and lightly meandering grout lines lend a warmth to the image which would otherwise be lacking.

With the 30th Anniversary of Space Invaders just about every type of tacky merchandise imaginable has been created. These Space Invaders headphones are heavy in tackiness, but they do have a certain appeal.

There are two styles to choose from, pink headphones with black invaders or black headphones with white invaders. For the price, I would not be expecting audio miracles, but they ought to be good enough for MP3.

Unison Idea Studio definitely seems to have taken a few design cues when it comes to Whoever is behind the Space Intruderz. These things are highly reminiscent of the invading aliens that I blasted on a monochrome screen in my youth. That being said, these are nothing if not awesome and at $48, the price is right. These Space Invaders pillows are great except for one small fact, I normally put my pillows inside a pillowcase as to not do so would be filthy. If you put your Space Invaders pillow inside a pillowcase, it will destroy all the fun of having bought the thing in the first place. Here’s hoping that Taito at least ships these with matching pillow cases.
