Dutch Build the First Solar-Powered Speedboat

Czeers MK1

It is not too often that we associate solar powered with anything fast and or furious, but perhaps it is time that we start. The Czeers MK1 is a 10-meter vessel covered in photovoltaic cells that is capable of hitting speeds of up to 30 knots (55.5 km/ph to you non-nautical folks out there). While there are certainly faster boats on the water, those tend to use obscene amounts of fuel.

RC Speed Boat Challenge: Wet, Reasonably-priced Fun

RC Speed Boat Challenge

The RC Speed Boat Challenge looks like it could be a good bit of summer fun. The little speed boats look fast, but by looking at the obstacle course in the picture, I can fairly safely say that navigating it will be a challenge. It looks like good fun for kids and immature adults alike. The kit includes the racers, obstacles and the pool and will be on sale at Drink Stuff from May 2nd for the not-too-steep price of $79. Minn Kota – Wireless Remote Control For Boats

Minn Kota RipTide Wireless CoPilot

Sometimes it sucks to own a boat and have to be near the steering wheel all the time, that is why there are small gadgets to help you. The Minn Kota is a compact and wireless remote steering system that delivers fingertip control from anywhere on the boat, literally.

Five easy-to-use buttons increase or decrease speed, steer left or right and turns your prop on or off with just a touch of your finger.

On top of these simple but great features the Minn Kota is waterproof, so imagine yourself taking a dive on the Pacific Ocean and controlling your boat simultaneously – sounds uber, huh? Lets not forget the floating detail, in case you are wearing the Minn Kota on your wrist and accidently it drops into the water, don’t worry because it will come back to the surface in a matter of seconds.

Price: $170

Wally Power Boats

The 118 Wallypower has been around for a couple of years and the specs are mind blowing. The 118 ft, 17000 hp boat weighs 95 tonnes yet it can do speeds of 70 mph. Here is a video of this uber cool boat in action. As the commentator put it, “if Darth Vader was a pirate, he would drive this boat”. I agree.

Price: Approxiametly $75 million, give or take a dollar
