This ultra-geeky Star Trek Enteprise Telephone would be a prized entry into the collection of any true trekky. We’ll be the first to admit that the phone will look kind of awkward in a standard home, but if you have other Star Trek paraphernalia, you’ll be all set.
We can’t imagine this phone being too comfortable to hold for long periods of time, as it looks pretty non-ergonomic. So if your getting it for a design piece thats great, but I wouldn’t go throwing away your cell just yet.

Up for auction is a nine-inch Cardassian phaser from the set of Deep Space 9. There is not too much to say about this one. It is a phaser and is constructed from rubber. It comes with a certificate of authenticity from Christie’s, who originally sold it at a New York auction for Star Wares. The photos are fairly low resolution, but it looks like there is some minor wear and tear, but looks at least a hundred times better than the Buck Rogers gun. There are four hours left on this auction in case you are interested.
Price: $220 when bidding closed.

Despite the incredible advancements in medical technology, the steel tools surgeons use for carving at our bodies haven’t changed much in the past millennium or so. With scalpel evolution being at a screeching halt, it’s about time that researchers conceived of a new method for surgical procedures, and recent tests on pigs shows that the technology works.
Using a device that emits ultrasound waves to a localized spot of the body, similar to a device used in the long running Star Trek series, could be the next wave of medical gadgetry goodness. The waves would be able to seal internal wounds which cause blood to leak into the body. The best part is that there would be no incision necessary, meaning no scars, no healing process, and no blood loss. The localized waves would pinpoint an area, leaving the surrounding tissue untouched.
