Stealth Mac Book Pro By Colorware Begs One Important Question, Why?

stealth_macbook_pro-thumb-450x302
Apple has always done a pretty good job of making fashionable cases for their notebooks, which makes me wonder why anyone would want to go out and throw out enormous amounts of money having theirs pimped. Colorware has gone to town on a new 15″ MBP, it has been coated with black SofTouch material, they have also incorporated a custom matte screen.

Other than that it is just a MBP with all the trimmings, a 256GB SSD and 8GB of RAM, hardly enough to justify the $6000 price tag, but hey, there are only ten of them. [Luxury Launches]

Veil Stealth Coating Turns Your Car Into a Stealthy Speeding Fine Avoiding Beast

veil
According to the manufacturer, a coating of Veil Stealth Coating will make your car more difficult to detect by laser guns. It does this by reducing the infrared reflectivity of your vehicle and thereby reducing the effective range of a laser gun to 500 feet; which ought to make them easier to spot.

Price: $89 (one set is enough for 8-10 vehicles) [Amazon via Inventor Spot]

Rumor: MySpace Quietly Preparing a Webmail Platform

template_page_myspace_logo2
MySpace, it would seem, has been quietly preparing a webmail platform. With their massive 125 million user membership, this would make MySpace a major player in the webmail market and place them below second-place Yahoo Mail and above third-place Gmail in user volume. However, it remains to be seen whether MySpace users will forgo their usual webmail providers and switch to using MySpace mail, or whether it will merely be a nice convenience and sometimes used feature.

Michael Arrington at Tech Crunch posits this observation:

The first hint of the new service was a reassignment of some MySpace employee email addresses to [name]@myspace-inc.com, which people have noticed. This is a sign that they are preparing to assign MySpace.com email addresses to users, which is exactly how Yahoo handled the transition when they launched Yahoo Mail in 1997.

I have to admit, it does seem likely, I wonder if Facebook will follow suit. [Tech Crunch]

Arduino Gamepack, Costs a Lot, Has No Games, Is Very Cool

Why buy a vintage portable game unit like a Gameboy when you can build one yourself? Sure, the Arduino Gamepack is prohibitively expensive, and there aren’t actually any games to speak of for it yet (it runs homebrew code), but if the longshot comes in and someone puts together an emulator for the thing, then this is going to be a must have toy for geeks of all descriptions. Stealthy Home Theater With Elite’s Raptor Projection Screen Line

Projection screens are a little boring, that is unless they are concealed in furniture and extend up automatically. The Elite Raptor lineup does exactly that. They are abailable in 72, 84 and 100-inch sizes, though if you are going to make the jump to a projector, you might as well do it properly. The height settings are adjustable and the cabinet comes in cherry or black.

Price: Available from September for approximately $4,000 [Elite via Born Rich, CePro]
