Cyberdyne Cinema, I Want One of These

Cyberdyne Theater Pic 1

This is without a doubt the coolest home theater setup I have seen in a long, long time. Electronic House featured this Terminator inspired home theater recently. I have got to say, Darren Mortenson, the man behind this particular piece of theater magic, is a genius. It is designed to look like a sci-fi set and includes a bunch of cool little props and pieces of memorabilia. The project was put together on a reasonable budget. Looking through at the products in the component list, there is nothing there that is outlandishly expensive. The DIY aspect makes this project incredibly cool. You see people outsourcing this kind of thing all the time, but Mortenson did it himself and became a licensed CEDIA installer in the process.

The 159-inch screen ought to bring his favorite movies to the screen larger than life and I probably would debate never going to an actual movie theater again if I had this in my basement. Seriously, I would trade just about everything that I own for this guy’s basement. This may be the product of a crazy obsession, but it is a crazy obsession that I like.  A ton of pictures and the full specs of the system after the jump. (more…)

Top 10 Toys for Geeks who have Everything (Part One)

10 Geek Toys

This is part one, toys one through five, for geeks who have everything. I have scoured the reaches of the Internet and come up with ten absolutely awesome geek toys. To make this list, they had to be one of a kind or extremely rare, insanely expensive and at least a little bit geeky. Most of the stuff comes from the films and TV shows that made us what we are today. Most of this stuff is advertised around the web, but almost always ends up on eBay. They are in no particular order. A lot of the stuff in this guide came from ProfilesInHistory as they geared up toward an enormous set of auctions in their “Hollywood Auction 28″. If you catch the prices that they sold for, include them in a comment and we will add them to the post.

300: Spartan Shield

300: Spartan Shield
This is a screen used Spartan shield directly from the set of 300 in Montreal. It is the only one of its kind on the market to my knowledge. It was apparently used earlier on in the film and appears to be weathered and battle damaged. It is constructed from fiberglass.

Price: $10,000 from StarWarsProps

Terminator 2: Judgment Day – Hunter Killer Tank

Terminator 2: Tank

This bad boy meets all of our requirements. It is believed to be a one of a kind. It was most likely used as a maquette before two full-sized models were built. It is small, just 10 inches tall x 13 inches wide and 15 inches long. It comes, of course, with a letter of authenticity. Three of the wheels are detached and require some repair. This fully detailed miniature does not come cheap.
Price: $5,000 – $7,000 from ProfilesInHistory (Item #868)

Terminator Themed Toyota MR2 Glows In The Dark

Glowing Toyota Mr2

Not much is known about this Glow In The Dark Toyota MR2 beyond the fact that it is owned by some dude in Russia and it has a Terminator-esque theme. Naturally, this raises questions about whether or not the glow-in-the-dark effect was manipulated in some way.

Still, that has to be the coolest paint job I have ever seen on a car. A daylight image is available after the jump.
