This is part one, toys one through five, for geeks who have everything. I have scoured the reaches of the Internet and come up with ten absolutely awesome geek toys. To make this list, they had to be one of a kind or extremely rare, insanely expensive and at least a little bit geeky. Most of the stuff comes from the films and TV shows that made us what we are today. Most of this stuff is advertised around the web, but almost always ends up on eBay. They are in no particular order. A lot of the stuff in this guide came from
ProfilesInHistory as they geared up toward an enormous set of auctions in their “Hollywood Auction 28″. If you catch the prices that they sold for, include them in a comment and we will add them to the post.
300: Spartan Shield

This is a screen used Spartan shield directly from the set of 300 in Montreal. It is the only one of its kind on the market to my knowledge. It was apparently used earlier on in the film and appears to be weathered and battle damaged. It is constructed from fiberglass.
Price: $10,000 from StarWarsProps
Terminator 2: Judgment Day – Hunter Killer Tank

This bad boy meets all of our requirements. It is believed to be a one of a kind. It was most likely used as a maquette before two full-sized models were built. It is small, just 10 inches tall x 13 inches wide and 15 inches long. It comes, of course, with a letter of authenticity. Three of the wheels are detached and require some repair. This fully detailed miniature does not come cheap.
Price: $5,000 – $7,000 from ProfilesInHistory (Item #868)

Remember that dinky little Bumblebee figure you had as a kid? Well it’s the 21st century baby – the toys have to be bigger and badder than ever ( plus, there is a movie coming out ). That having been said, get a load of the Ultimate Bumblebee:
He’s far more than meets the eye! The 14-inch tall animatronic Bumblebee robot transforms into a 2008 Camaro with lights and sounds. With the touch of a button, robotic Bumblebee comes to “life” with speech and music featuring Devo’s “Whip It”, battle and conversion sounds and animated head, arms and wings. Bumblebee’s sound detection capabilities enable him to respond to noise, and he can also aim and fire a missile.
As you might imagine, a toy this spectacular won’t come cheap. But let’s face it, geeky fanboys aren’t the people to talk to when it comes to setting a responsible list of financial priorities.
Price: $100 ( Available in September )

- Are you a fan of robots?
- Do you have a fetich for robot heads?
- Do you enjoy looking at images?
If the answer for the previous 3 questions was yes, just check this Flickr gallery and enjoy the retro look of all those robots.
My top 3 list for these robots would be in this order: Hydroflame, Lion Head, and Trooper.

Standing approximately 1 foot tall, Spyke is the Wi-Fi spy robot to build.
Spyke is usually a good name for a dog, but the creators decided to make a robot with the same name, and it isn’t a normal robot – it is one with Wi-Fi, a video camera and much more.
The Wi-Fi is one of the best features, besides being able to reproduce music it can work as a surveillance system by using the camera and taking photos that are afterwards sent to your email. With the wireless feature you can also use the robot as a VOIP phone, and last but not least, Spyke can be controlled on the internet or via the local connection – all this connectivity fetures should say thanks to the included Wi-Fi card.
Other normal features that most robots also have:
- Returns to recharging station automatically when battery is low
- Motion sensors activate automatically when something happens
More info about Spyke’s features and specifications.
UPDATE:The retail price will be 269$ in the USA
Price: £199.95 and should be available 04/09/2007
