A handmade lampshade like one of these would be a good way to throw a bit of extra light around your gaming room (or your parents’ basement). The line up includes: Space Invaders, Google pins, F2 button, RSS icon and a bunch of other less exciting non-geek stuff. (more…)

Medigenic Keyboard Comes With Onboard Filth Sensor

Ever wanted to take the keyboard cleanliness up a notch? The Medigenic keyboard is designed for medical use. It has an onboard sensor that tells you when it should be cleaned and a disable button that lets you disable the keys when cleaning so that you avoid accidental key presses. The weird thing about this keyboard is that it is completely flat, but it has been designed to give the keys a faux-3D effect (which will likely go unnoticed by touch typists).
Keyboards are rather filthy things and should be cleaned from time to time. The keyboard of the shared school computer that I am using at the moment actually leaves my fingers sticky after use; and my office desktop is actually a few shades darker than when I first got it two years ago. The grossness of it all, however, is not enough to make me want to part with $140 for a board that is worse for touch typing.

Gunnar PC Shades May or May Not be Tinted With Snake Oil

The premise sounds believable enough, that the cold color temperature of LCD screens is the cause of eye strain, because it causes people to blink less. Gunnar PC shades aim to solve that by taking your hard-earned money and providing a warm-color (yellow) tinting, which cause people to blink more.
Price: $100 – $189 [DVICE]

Knight XV, a Luxurious Tank for the Suburbs

The Knight XV is a sight to behold. A handcrafted, fully armored SUV that was inspired by the Gurkha military vehicle. It comes with a Bio-fuel V10 that pumps out 400 horses. If you have a price on your head, work in a seriously dangerous occupation or imagine that people are out to get you – and you have some serious funds behind you, then you just might be able to pick up one of the 100 vehicles that are initially going to see the market.
If you do manage to get into one, the interior is sure to impress. Features include:
- Wilton Wool carpeting
- Andrew Muirhead leather
- 6-way seating, tandem sunroof glass with privacy shades
- Side-mounted laptop stations
- LED cabin lighting
- Alpine DVD navigation
- TVs
- Night vision and rear op camera system
- PlayStation 3
Price: $295,000 (considering that it takes 1500 hours to build one that works out to roughly $200 an hour for the builder’s time). [Knight XV via Uncrate]

Made-to-Order Black Lace Chandelier Looks Fancy, Inefficient

The Black Lace Chandelier is not my cup of tea exactly, but I can concede that it appeals to a certain marketing niche. The laser cut black Perspex shade will project some interesting shadows around a room and I am guessing there will be a visually spectacular interplay with the “cascading crystals.” The crystals come in a range of colors including: Amber, Jet, Ruby, Light Aqua, Dark Aqua, Olive, Pink, Amethyst and clear.
Jet glass crystals cascade from a glossy black Perspex shade with delicate, intricate laser cut design. When lit, the shade reflects ornate shadow-patterns on the surrounding walls and floor creating mood and movement.
Black is not a color commonly associated with light shades or chandeliers for obvious reasons, they are designed to project light, not absorb it and it is for this reason and the $520 price tag, that I will not be buying the Black Lace Chandelier.
