In Windows XP and Vista, log-in passwords perform two important functions and they keep unwanted users off and they allow you to make use of the remote connection functionality that is standard on Windows XP Professional. Setting up a log-in password is extremely simple, but there are some people who will not have done it before and as it is a core part of the XP Ninja experience, it would be remiss of me to leave out this documentation.
About a month ago I decided to give a low-power (but new) Solaris system that I had lying around a new lease of life. Microsoft seems to have created its own little thing of creating deliberately bad promotional videos. I have to say, while we may mock profusely, it does give them a lot of publicity. This video is the usual fare, but what is amusing is that the laptop in the computer seems to be a last generation Mac Book Pro running Vista (albeit with a sticker covering the Apple logo.
