Anna Konda - A Firefighting Snake Robot

While the name Anna Konda, might sound like something of a corny joke, what it does is very, very cool. This three-meter long, 75-kg robot, comes equipped with a spray system for extinguishing fires in places that may be impossible or very dangerous for human firefighters to venture into. What’s more, the Anna Konda is actually powered by water and the hydraulic valves and cylinders found in each segment are capable of handling 1450 psi - it needs to get hooked up to a hose before being sent into action.

Motion Detecting Water Mayhem

The Waterhobo

I had a friend who used to use the brute force method to get sales people and religious zealots off his property. He had controls for his pop-up sprinkler system in his house. The moment someone came that should not have been there he would activate his watering system. It was a high-tech watering system, but a low-tech approach to soaking unwanted visitors. Enter the Waterhobo, an electronic solution for obtaining the same effect.

The Waterhobo is a computer controlled hose / water gun with a motion sensor. Trespassers trip the motion detector and Waterhobo gives them a good soaking. It does not really aim at them, rather it sprays back and forth, up and down in the target area. It achieves the desired result and there is an IR camera to record all of the fun. A lot of ingenuity, an old computer and a few parts went into this garden defense system. We are looking forward to seeing version 2.0 when it is ready.  Do check out the website, there are a few videos of the Waterhobo in action.

Super Soaker Mt. Tiki-Soki

Mt. Tiki-Soki

Back in the day all I had was a Slip-N-Slide and some crappy Mr. T sprinkler. Today kids have Super Soaker’s Mt. Tiki-Soki water volcano.

It’s a blast! Get soaked with the Mt. Tiki Soki water volcano! Plug it in to any standard garden hose and dual jets create a constant spray of water for staying cool! But watch out! When the volcano wakes up and opens his eyes, he’s ready to blow! When he erupts, a drenching spray of water shoots out and soaks everyone in sight! It’s awesome, water-soaking fun that will keep you cool all day long!

If you don’t have access to a pool, Mt. Tiki-Soki is definitely the way to go.

Price: $21.99
